How to make your Open Office run smooth in Windows

Most of us notice that Open Office loads slow. Will there a solutions to make it load fast. I will show to you how.

1. Go to All Programs > Open Office.org and select the application you want to choose for. For me I choose OpenOffice.org Calc as an example.

2. This time the OpenOffice.org Calc is launched. Go to the Tools menu and select options. as shown in the image below.

3. Highlight the Memory selection on the left panel and change the setting as shown in the image below.

4. Reduce the number of Undo steps to a figure lower than 100. Adelstein suggests 20 or 30 steps.
5. Under Graphics cache, set Use for OpenOffice.org to 128 MB (up from the original 6MB).
6. Set Memory per object to 20MB (up from the default .5MB)
7. Set the number of objects under Cache for inserted objects at 20.
8. Check OpenOffice.org Quickstarter.
9. Now highlight Java on the left panel as shown in the image below, uncheck Use a Java runtime environment

10. Click the OK button and close OpenOffice.org Calc. Start it up again and see the change of speed!
